Blackbelly Barbados originally
came from the island of Barbados. The island was colonized in 1627 by the
English and the breed was born.
Here are some facts about the breed:
- Hair sheep covered with medium
to thick hair ( no wool )
- Shades of brown, tan, or red,
with black bellies.
- High lambing rate. They average
2 lambs per ewe with 3 lambings every 2 years.
- Easy lambing and excellent
mothers.
- Parasite tolerant and resistant.
- Low maintenance.
- Very lean and great tasting
meat.
